It's a chance to test your poker skills again in a slightly different venue.
There are some important things to keep in mind though, if you're interested to play online poker. For example, you shouldn't forget that online gambling in the US is illegal. If you live and play anywhere in the United States, you cannot play online poker that involves money at stake. Traditional poker is legal of course in casinos like Nevada, but online poker is different.
For starters, you play the game in an online poker room just as you would on traditional poker table. However, there are no online poker rooms operating in the US. They are situated in other countries particularly in Europe and South America. And currently there is no provision in the federal law that allows gambling online.
Well, the idea of course would be pure profit for casino owners. If you have an online casino, you significantly cut off overhead expenses, like the space rental and maintenance, manpower, electricity, furnishing, etc. You only need to secure and maintain one site and keep the money coming.
For players, poker online is a great avenue to practice. And you can test your skill with other players if you so wish, at the convenience of your home or office. There are a number of online casinos despite of legal issues, regardless too whether they allow gambling or not. But though its illegal, many still play gambling online. Even if the players are caught red handed, the US government cannot yet execute enforcement, considering these sites could have thousands of member players each. But the government is taking steps against this issue. For example, since they cannot go after each online gambler, they hold the bank responsible for online gambling transactions. In other words, the government restricted online financing used for online gambling. By targeting this, they may significantly limit the attempts of the activity. The idea however is not leak proof. There are other ways to transfer money if one wishes it.
